Purposeful Play Everyday (PPE) activities are the perfect way to “level up” your playing time with your child at home!

  • What is included?

    When you purchase an PPE activity, you will receive:

    1. The item you selected

    2. A video of a licensed SLP demonstrating a variety of ways to use that activity to stimulate development

  • How does it work?

    Each week, Alissa Hughes will select feeding, speech/language, cognitive, or other play activities to be added to the PPE Store because they are some of her favorite Speech Therapy activities. Teaching your child has less to do with WHAT activities you choose to play with and much more to do with HOW you use them during play. By choosing favorite books and toys to share with you, Alissa can model (with video demonstration) different ways to talk, use, and play with each item to work on different skills. Once you know the strategies to use, then you can apply them to other books and toys!

  • For example:

    Alissa’s favorite version of the book “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?” is the slide-and-find version listed in the store, because these are all of the skills you can work on with it:

    1. Identifying animals

    2. Identifying colors

    3. Teaching animal sounds and/or animal signs

    4. Fine motor skills (isolating finger by pointing, using two fingers to slide)

    5. Greetings (waving “hi” and “bye”)

    6. Verbalizing 1-3 words together

    And the list goes on!

    That is a lot of learning packed into one little book and it would take a lot of time and repetition to do ALL of those skills, so by demonstrating HOW to practice each of those skills, you can follow your child’s lead, interests, and take your time demonstrating skills over time with your purchase. At your child’s pace. It’s a beautiful and exciting way for Alissa to share her skills with as many parents as possible!

  • How do I use the PPE activities?

    You can use the video to learn how to teach your child or you can watch the video together. If you love these simple self-taught activity options and decide to teach the strategies to your friends, wonderful! One of Alissa’s main goals is to help families learn how to play with a purpose.
